Mate, SEA is not really strategically located because of Alaska. Alaska, albeit a beautiful place, is not the bread and butter to source a consistent stream of premium passengers for CX's network. The population is incredibly small. There is hardly any demand for passengers ex-HKG to be flying to/from Alaska either, and as already mentioned CX covers YVR perfectly fine. I think you'll see DFW or a South American destination via North America ages before you'll see CX serve SEA. Or Washington DC, or even Boston before SEA. I just don't see it happening.
For those who want to go for an Alaskan Cruise during May to Sept period will appreciate a SEA destination as an anternative to YVR.
But I was just comparing EWR vs SEA.. EWR can be served by JFK so I rather have SEA.. of course other US ports may hve better commericial value than SEA.
It might be slightly off topic but wishing that CX will have at least one South American destination from HKG. SQ has San Paolo from Singapore so why not CX do the same. It is just the fare of SQ is much higher than CX.
CX has a flight to South Africa (JNB) which I tried already. so why not South America too as it has so many wonderful places to visit.
