I am certainly not implying that things in Hamburg are a mess - most of my stays this year were nice as well, albeit
never absolutely flawless.
It is just that there were also stays with irregularities I would not have thought possible at PH Hamburg. Even if 90 % of all stays there are still pleasant, it is all about how the remaining 10 % are handled. And believe me: some of these cases were not handled all too well this year.
It is really not about the countless glitches that can occur in even the best hotels, nor is it about compensation or room upgrades and such - it is that glitches must never be regarded with indifference or negligence, especially by the management.
Park Hyatt Hamburg even made it into a major national newspaper in October (German only:
http://www.welt.de/print/wams/vermis...ro-kosten.html) when a barkeeper there allegedly overcharged a journalist for a glass of wine.
Instead of offering the furious lady a refund they (including the GM whom the journalist wrote a complaint to before going public) obviously kept insisting that everything was alright.
Without knowing the whole story, I seriously doubt that this would have had the same outcome back in 2009...
That being said, I still enjoy staying at PH Hamburg from time to time - I would just love to see a more consistent performance there again.
