I showed up at DCA this past Sunday hoping to do a counter-only rental, but the clerk wouldn't budge: I had to take possession of the car and drive it out of the lot. So I said "OK, let's change my return location to Union Station" (about 2 blocks from my house) and drove across the river. I almost cracked up when the lot attendant at Union Station asked me how my rental was.

For the record, my $17.21 cost is pretty much what it usually costs to take a cab from DCA to my house.
