I expect it to apply when the carrier's baggage policy states "Star Alliance Gold members" are allowed ... extra bags.
The question then becomes: Am I a *G member because I have a *G card or am I a *G member because I collect miles on my *G card.
Besides the "legalese" I appreciate all the practical tips how to circumvent the problem.
Just out of curiosity: Do carrier's charge each other for extra baggage allowed to "alien" *G members or is it assumed that this will balance out?
