Never hurts to check in early.
I, too, have reservations with the 'glitch' explanation. Sure, it has improved slightly in the past couple of weeks after tons of complain but still it is not what it used to be or what they are advertising. At least on my route (and a few that I monitor), I have not seen 5/4/3 day EUA - just 24 hrs or at the gate. But, heck, 24 hrs is not bad.
For example in the past couple of flights after UAInsider (Shannon) stated that this was fare class issue but a hotfix was applied... it went to T-24 or T21 - no 5 days/3 days, etc. While the booking showed 3/20, 4/20, and 7/20.
So... either the hotfix did not work or $mi$ek decided that he will try TOD initiative again, hoping that we get fooled during the so called technical issue.
But to answer the OP's question - check in As Soon As You can. I heard (no proof) that check-in time is some sort of tie-breaker, when necessary.
FYI - my next flight is in 48 hrs and it is showing 7/20 - no EUA! Sad...
Please fix this CO or provide an explanation UAInsider!
