I keep a travel blanket (which I got from JetBlue for 5 bucks) in my carry-on. Been stuck at the airport enough times to find it invaluable. It's been used as a blanket, bed, pillow, sweater and even umbrella!

Also, my "first aid kit," including safety pins, breath mints and Alka Seltzer.
