As for the "newstand" app I totally agree that it's crap. Especially with the fact that they have a "free" NY Times app-the only one that I saw that I would consider installing- and while it says you can see the top news stories, it doesn't detail that you can't actually read the article. Actually you can read the articles in the "top news" section without subscribing. Other than that I agree with all your points. Totally half-baked.

So the location reminder thing either only works with iPhones or it only works on the 4S hardware. Has someone with an iPhone 4 been able to get the location reminder thing working?
IIRC the iTouch doesn't have GPS which would make location-based reminders impossible. No excuse for not allowing them on the iPhone 3GS, though.
