Put another way, do you get a second bonus once you do a trade? I got 2500 for opening an account. If I do a trade in it, how will US suddenly know I did a trade? Maybe if the argument were that you needed to set up for a monthly investment plan, US would somehow know it. But that would be much more sophisticated reporting from sharebuilder to US than we've come to be accustomed to for many of the partners.
My hunch is there is maybe something else going on here that's making it tough for people to identify with precision what counts as a hit. I haven't had any bonus miles post yet despite many hits. Clearly something is going on at US that is causing some delay. And it wouldn't surprise me if the moment that bonuses are posting is not the same moment in time at which they took a snapshot to figure out how many hits you have. So, anyone trying to make conclusions based on activity that posted yesterday may be making faulty assumptions. Something is going on at US and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few bugs they haven't worked out yet.
Technically you are only supposed to get 2500 if you open and account AND do a trade. But they have been rewarding the points without doing the trade. Maybe a mistake, maybe they changed the rules--who knows. But I have a bad feeling that US Airways is only giving a hit by fulfilling this second part:
"If a member subscribes to the ShareBuilder Standard or Advantage Investing Program each month during a calendar quarter, they will receive 500 additional bonus miles for every active quarter during the calendar year."
