As brenc3 says though, OW doesn't mention anything about additional people
So you fly with your partner with no status and they're gonna say, sorry you check in here, they can check over there.. I don't think the check-in agents really care about one extra person checking in... unless of course it's someone travelling alone without any status. We as a family have checked in together many times at business or first check-in desks when only one or two of us has had status.

This is of course based on my experiences and opinions but I do not know how it is said in the rules. I think you should be fine.
