Just would like to reinforce UA Fan's comments. The only time I have ever been turned down for a card was with US Bank Flexperks. The reason given was too many applications and I had only had two new cards in the last six months. It's a excellent program (my wife has the card and we've been able to match airfares almost to the dollar with the $200/$400/etc, levels) and the earning of miles on the tickets is a big plus. But beware if you have other recent credit card applications.
