OK, well adding JFK-ORD (B6 3x, DL 3x, AA 2x, UA 0x) brings UA's NYC-ORD market share of # of departures down to about 30%. I still don't really think that's enough on its own to drive such a large pricing disparity.
This is just CO's style of pricing out of its hubs.
Economically that doesn't make sense to me. They can't charge hundreds of dollars more out of their hubs because they want to, unless they're either the only game in town, or their competitors go along with it.
I really think it's DL (or more specifically Shuttle America) driving the NYC pricing down. It seems AA likes the premium EWR pricing and for whatever reason (MDW?), WN's ~20% share isn't impacting the legacies.
