We do not drive automatics much in Europe and least of all in Italy. Why not learn how to drive a manual? We all have to learn to drive automatics when we come to the US or Canada.

I drive manual, but one thing to keep in mind is it becomes quite a bit more difficult driving a manual in a country like Britain or South Africa or Thailand (which I've done) where they drive on the wrong side of the road. This means that you're shifting with your left hand!
