A few times I have booked using miles + cash and found the saving to be quite substantial vs just using only cash.

Example 1000 miles + $146 vs $212 at the hotel site. So using 1000 miles gave me a $66 savings.

The couple times that I have booked into a Hilton I've received all my elite benefits (except reward points) during the stay.
