An open question to any who might be able to help:

I've booked a RT with LA between SCL-IPC. On the outward leg I'm find and have got myself a D class seat, but for the return D is already full, so I've had to go for the back up option of taking a seat in Y.

LAN Chile claims (unlike any other OW airline, it seems) that it doesn't waitlist for D; nor will they give me any indication of when J availability is likely to convert to D (though I suspect this may be 24 hours ahead of this flight).

If anyone can think of any strategies for dealing with this, I'd be grateful for your advice.
