MEL-NRT
will get you more miles. And for QF MEL-NRT is over 5000 miles so get more status credits which is what gets you to next QF FF level

As said above, to maximise OWE miles (and QF status credit) its best to go from the extreme (eg east) in one continent to the extreme (eg west) in the next. That is for example JFK-SYD, and not LAX-SYD (for NA to SWP), SFO-ZRH and not JFK-LHR (for NA to Europe), MEL-NRT and not SYD-NRT (for SWP-Asia). Also the same within a continent

You can also transit thru NA. So that LHR-EZE for example can be done as LHR-LAX-EZE

You can also have ground sectors, so that you can maximise the long trips.

This post One World Distances has a list of some direct flights that exist (or did exist at that time it was done). These are flights with a single flight number. They may go via several airports.. Some even require a change of aircraft, like, MIA-NRT on AA, but they are a single flight number, which is the important thing
Flights between destinations are being changed every day so you need to check.

Also Simple list of BA destination. This list will not be up to date
