Ahhh... Now the email makes sense. I sounds like the parking charge is new, and the price is low because there are *really* easy free options nearby. Marriott references security in their email because everybody "knows" that mall parking lots are full of hoodlums breaking into cars.
It's a business trip...I'll pay the $6...but good to know there are options for people there on their own dime.

I'm in there for $160/nt. midweek next week. Our company is towards the bottom end of the Fortune 500 and as a company we do a modest amount of travel compared to Big Four type firms of the world. (In other words, we don't have any unique negotiating leverage for hotel rates - I assume this is a normal corporate rate.) Doesn't really change the argument, but it's not like I'm dropping three bills a night to stay in this suburban Marriott.
