ChrisMoss7, thanks for the tip on QF seats. I had read some time ago that one of the BA HKG flights had the new bed in Biz. But I am 6'2" and it may be a bit cramped for this lanky body. Then it's CX to SYD but I may not have enough layover time in HKG to enjoy a much needed massage!

MCRT, sorry, Silver is correct. The latest Qantas schedule lists QF317 operated by Polynesian Airlines. And to make matters worse, that's a very long flight on a 737. The new codeshare came into effect as of 29 November, which is the same date when Qantas discontinued its own service to PPT.
But, if you were ticketed before the change of schedule, I would venture to say that QF must honor the routing.
And thanks for the well wishes...you can only imagine how much I am looking forward to taking this trip!!!
