What was the base fare you were quoted on the economy itinerary so we can get a sense of the actual price differential between Canada and the U.S.? I have a year-old RTW Explorer chart [Canada origination] that lists the low season 3-continent fare at C$3,119 and the 4-continent one at C$3,489. The J fare is C$5,569 and C$6,549 respectively, quite a bit more than the US$1,000 you mention: almost US$1,600 in the first case and US$2,000 in the second.

Sounds like the fares are better now than last year. I am considering such a trip to requalify for AA Platinum early next year, so this is of much interest to me, and perhaps others.
