last time an RBC bank machine failed to spit out an extra $40 bucks i withdrew, i went to the teller, told them the issue and they gave me the $40 bucks back on the spot. i get great service from my bank everytime they swipe my card.
on the contrary, there was a CIBC ATM outage in downtown Toronto, walked several branches, all down....hence used a TD ATM and requested that that the transaction fees be refunded.....
Went to bank on Monday noon in downtown Toronto, staff at CIBC said "you wanted your money thats your problem"... my response "I gave you my business to store my money with your bank, its my money which I could take whenever I wanted to and your bank failed to deliver because all of your downtown ATMs were down". Your machines were down and your blaming the customer of wanting to withdraw his/her money?
Manager overheard it and said "give this guy back his $1.50"
Took my business elsewhere for a few years until someone sincere at CIBC asked for my business back and dealt with that individual only since!
