AA 100K Promo Rules

Can anyone clarify this matter for me (and for AA as well). I contend that according to the regulations for this promo as set out in their August newsletter, a flight need not be in an AAdvantage mileage accrual eligible fare to qualify for this promo as long it is a legitimate paid fare "marketed by a participating oneworld carrier and flown on a oneworld carrier". The issue of AAdvantage mileage accrual eligible fares only applies in the regulations relating to the Million Mile Sweepstakes also advertised in the same issue.

AA agents insist flight must be on a mileage accrual eligible fare, but that is not how I read this rule. How about any of you? (Check out the text on the AA website by pulling off a copy of the newsletter in Acrobate format.)

This will matter to any of us who have used the N-class fare on the 5th freedom flight between JFK and YVR. (I was ultimately upgraded to J, but my paid fare remains the N-class one and that is what they will be looking for.)
