My idea to make online check-in actually beneficial
Maybe this isn't even possible, but this is my idea:
- Check-in online as normal
- On the day of arrival you receive a text/email signifying your room is ready and your room number. It can also include information regarding lounge access/whatnot
- Upon arriving at the hotel you simply go straight to your room and use your HHonors card as your room key
Sure there is the question of distributing new HHonors cards with a magnetic strip and coming up with some sort of key maker allowing someone on property to program the door lock for your arrival, but I think it might be plausible to phase in over the next few years.
