No use for them. The A380 makes sense on only a small handful of the world's air routes covering about a dozen airports. The A340 was a dog almost from the get-go, quickly supplanted by the A330. Most operators who bought the 340 wish they hadn't.

How come no American carriers are buying the 747-8? Same reason. What you point to isn't chauvinism, it's business analysis.

They passed on the Concorde also. They knew it would be a money loser, but the status may have been worth it.
If that argument held any water BA and AF would still be flying theirs.
