I asked the front desk about the SVC Promise and they told me that they give the 500 points in lieu of not offering some specific services. I have no idea what those services are, maybe the bed.
As far as the W on Lexington goes, I don't know why people are so negative. I stayed at the hotel Mon-Thurs for about three months. Staff was friendly and courteous, bar was fun to hang out at, and rooms were nice (not amazing).
I received a few upgrades, which surprised me because I was newly platinum and NYC and Starwood properties are full of platinum guests during the week.
The bars were the main attraction at the place for me. It doesn't matter if it was a Tuesday night, the lobby bar and Whiskey Blue were filled with hot girls (fine, I am a pig).
