I’m astounded that I’m expected to collect my bags in SYD & lug them personally onto the QF bus between the domestic & initernational terminals. QF's SYD interlining policy will terminate my 24 year relationship with them. QF has lost the plot.

I guess whether a high Status credit earning frequent flyer should or should not get interlining is not the issue. Qantas changed their rules and that's they way it is.

It is no accident I have had more domestic flights with Virgin Blue/Australia in the last months than with Qantas. (From a 2500+ SC earner last year, this year I have less then 1500.)

IMHO, there is little wrong with politely requesting interline when checking-in at the "Domestic to International" desk at MEL T1. They may do it for you or they may not. If they don't, so be it - smile and move on.

Other than that, how much checked luggage do you have? All Qantas jet passengers are permitted 2 x 7kg in carry-on so if you can comply with the point becomes moot.
