Ah, so DL had the same thoughts as I did just now.

I thought they would, as DL did ask for HNL-HND initially and didn't get it (and HA asked for two HNL-HND slots, but just got one, and then appealed it with DoT saying that there is so much demand there and too little supply HNL-NRT - I think only some ~3000 seats daily total combined, while I think nearly twice more could be fairly easily filled - that they really need it).

Would make sense. Instead of letting the slot sit empty, even if just temporary/interim basis, operate HNL-HND if DTW-HND is suspended (and then later I wouldn't be surprised that the temporary/interim here becomes permanent).
