Maybe its just me, but I don't choose an airline on the basis of its food, even in Business Class. I get far better food from my local takeaway joints than any airline has been able to deliver at altitude. Meals on planes are sustenance, not a social experience.
IMHO, this has not gone far enough in trimming the unnecessary frills. A meal service lasting no more than 1h should be the target, optimally served on a single tray. See the LH meal below for an example of how this can be achieved (although this TSU is an Atlas 2/3 while Emirates uses KSSU 1/1 so size is slightly different).
Time is of the essence in Business Class. Finish the meal service quickly so I can work or sleep or whatever else I need to do.
The US carriers will probably better suit you, then. Low level of service and even lower expectations from passengers.

Emirates, in my view, used to have one of the better J meal services (I'm talking about setting and experience here, rather than food quality). I particularly enjoy(ed) the dessert/cheese trolley, and the inclusion of canapes.
