Weather and CX

From what I've read in previous threads, CX seems to treat their passengers in Canada better than the ones in the U.S. if there is a weather cancellation/delay?

Why I ask is because I plan on booking a flight to BKK from JFK with a stopover in HKG during late December and early January. Since it is the winter, I am worried about cancellations since it's unpredictable. Considering the situation that happened this past December, I've noticed that the ground crew in YVR provided hotels to their guests after deplaning.

Since I plan on booking an award ticket in F with AA miles, would I be receiving a hotel room in Canada if there is a cancellation? How about the US?

During times like this are passengers in F treated differently? Do they extend the hours of the lounge as well?
