There's a hotel where the best available rate on marriott.com and Comparison Site is the exact same price for a standard "Guest room" for the same dates.

Comparison Site offers to upgrade the room type for $20 that is listed under the same name as one on Marriott's site, but Marriott wants $140 more for it in their rate menu. The only difference in the room descriptions are the square footages, and by a wide margin, but the measurements don't match up between the two sites for any room type at this hotel.

Question 1: Comparison Site wants billing info, but allows me to cancel without penalty, so the rate should qualify on that point, yes?

Question 2: I'm confused by LNF Rule #5, and searched for an answer without really finding anything in black and white: "When multiple rates for the same hotel, reservation dates, and room type are available through a Marriott channel you must reserve the lowest rate to be eligible for the guarantee."

This bigger room isn't the lowest rate category of any room available at the hotel, but I'm comparing the lowest rates for this room type. Do you think there's a chance at having an LNF accepted or does Marriott only do an LNF against the cheapest and smallest room available?

Question 3: When I click through to the Comparison Site from a comparison site aggregator, it shows the $20 premium for this room type. But when I searched for the hotel on the Comparison Site directly to submit a URL, it wants a $30 premium for this room type. Which rate should I submit to the LNF desk?

If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Potential savings is >$500 off marriott.com's rate for a three night stay.
You can do LNF on premium rooms, I do it all the time. You just have to compare apples to apples. You might get into trouble with the differnt room descriptions, but why don't you just try and see if they accept it? Just list the marriott.com rate and the rate at the other site (final rate once you click through to confirm ... anything listed elsewhere is not going to do you any good). Worst thing that can happen is a non-approval and then you just cancel your Marriott reservation. Just make sure you book the lowest rate for that room type on Marriott.com and you should be all set.
