Booked an award on Apr. 9. Weeks ago LH made a schedule change, and seat on a segment went from first class to business class.

Now Egypt Air made an equipment change from CAI-BKK, and the seat went from First to Business. Then this morning noticed that the this segment went from confirmed to unconfirmed. I called CO and the agent said there are no award seats left on the flight I was confirmed on. It's like - you're out of luck. I asked if she can find a routing through a connecting city. The agent finds a routing through Rome and wants to charge a change fee even though origin and destination remain the same. I said, I don't want to lose the two first class seats so I will pay any change fee, and deal with customer service later, because the change is involuntray, and origin and destination remain the same.
