Of 'wide-bodied' twin engined aircrafts, the 777 is indeed the noisest. I prefer to take the A330 over it anyday! No one can beat the A340 on quietness! My travels on Cathay Pacific Airways had me convinced that the 777s are always louder than in the front that the middle sections. The A330 are quite quiet throughout. Yes and the cabin attendants have told me that too.

To the dry-nose syndrom, it all depends on the airline. The pilots can regulate how much moisture it is in the air. But take a saline nasal moisturizer spray anyway, it helps!
