Yes, realizing that I'm likely to be LAX based for a number of years, I think 2012 will be my 1 year effort at flying AA. At this point, I've been so frustrated with the new-CO that it is going to be hard for AA not to impress.
I should note that at 0.8MM lifetime this is a surprise decision for me. I'm only in my mid-twenties and likely to hit the million miles regardless but I never thought I'd leave UA. In the last six months I've had more poor experiences than in the prior decade combined, without any hyperbole, it is just an entirely different experience flying UA now.
A sad statement, pitiful as it may sound I was always a little emotionally attached to UA. It just isn't the airline for me anymore. I hope AA is.
We are in the same boat...
Moved TATL travel to BA & LX. After 11 years as a 1k will drop UA completely and just put all Star miles into BD. Have already achieved gold on BA and have gold on BD. For asian routes i'm quite happy with the new LX C and when malaysian joins OW, I might move further away from star, as I do love their F class.
