Honestly you will probably wish you had a car in Cabo! The area is very widespread and unless you want to stay at your resort, you will want a car to explore North to San Jose del Cabo and around the coastline south of Cabo which is beautiful!
If you wish to explore the area south of Cabo, the vehicle that you will need is a boat, rather than a car, as you will be in the Pacific Ocean. Which is not to say that it isn't thoroughly worth exploring. The last time I was in this area, I met a 125 pound Marlin and two Dorado in the 25-30 pound range. And the Dorado joined me for dinner that evening.
