I read on a pilots forum that Qantas is instead working with AA for the DFW freight by letting AA carry the freight DFW-HNL on their 2x daily 763 passenger flights and then a QF 763 or Jetstar A330 depending on day HNL-SYD.
This allow freight full payload as Honolulu is a US island in the middle of the pacific. (HNL-DFW 8 hours, HNL-SYD 9 hours).
Yes the HNL is grad for holidaymakers looking for a stop but seriously this is aimed at business travelers.
Cargo can wait +5-10 hours, passengers we as humans cannot. (Actually cargo transit in HNL is like 2-3 I think...)
