I have to admit, I always assumed Marriott did this, and that it was automatic. I never checked until recently and realized I am only getting points for the room cost. This upsets me as I always bill things to the room, or eat at the restaurants, or pay for the exorbitant dry cleaning, with the solace that at least I am getting points.
Last weekend Mrs. Emanon and I went on a small get-a-way to a Marriott hotel, my bill was:
Room: $249.00
Lounge: $22.15
Parking: $40.00
Retail: $21.93
And a bunch of taxes.
When I checked my MR Account, I only received 2,490 base points and the 50% Plat bonus. I expected 3,330.
I went back through all of my receipts for April and May, and its the same, lots of other items billed to my room, and I only ever received points for the room alone.
Is this something new? Or I have I been under the wrong impression or years?
What did Marriott CS say when you called? Whether you are entitled or not, it never hurts to ask -- sometimes they just hand out the points becs. the #'s don't add up to much.
