At every US entry port I've been, I've been asked for the card, together with the kiosk receipt. And you definitely need to have filled out the Canadian declaration card when entering Canada.
I think the Global Entry (GE) and NEXUS programs may have gotten mixed up here. I was specifically resonding to a "rant" on Global Entry and the Global Entry sticker (which actually says "CBP" ) that goes on the inside back cover of your passport. Global Entry can
only be used to enter into the US, at certain locations. NEXUS is, of course, a bidirectional entry program between the US and Canada. You do not need to complete a Customs Form when entering the US using a Global Entry Kiosk. I participate in the SENTRI (US-MEXICO) NEXUS, Global Entry and Privium (Netherlands) trusted traveller programs. The rules for all these programs are different, and it can be confusing.
