This is exactly what happened to me this morning. She said that they've been getting a ton of calls on this promotion (and told me it ran in April, which is different from the February that I've been seeing upthread). She asked to make sure it was a new platinum application, not an upgrade, which is was. She said that I met the eligibility criteria but hadn't been targeted, but in recognition of my long history with Amex (since 1997, so not sure how long that is comparatively) she was giving me the extra 50k points. The call took 7 minutes.
