Hell, even using wired connection your personal information can be stolen. Any company that you give your information to just needs to get hacked *cough* Sony *cough& and your information even credit card number gets out regardless....
The possibility that others might fail you is no excuse for not protecting the stuff you can control. WPA is breakable in under 30 minutes. WPA2 and wired where appropriate are the best choices unless you're a reductionist/nihilist.
