That's what it sounds like based on your and Jane's answer. So I did the more sensible thing: called my TA, asked him to cancelled my previous booking and made a new booking, the net difference is only $77 USD so no big deal.

Better than buying one-way TPE-HKG they make you buy Y-fare (website) but round-trip you can buy them at V-fare (total half the price.)
