I already have a ticket JFK-NGB-WNZ-HKG-JFK

Now, something came up so I'm going to skip the WNZ-HKG part, but instead will, on a separate ticket purchase, go PVG-TPE-HKG. The PVG-TPE I'm already taken care of.

I am asked to buy my own TPE-HKG part (so I can return home HKG-JFK.) The one-way ticket is $12,000 TWD. Ironically, when I made a dummy round-trip ticket the cost is only $6,000 TWD (half-price for roundtrip!!!)

If, on a separate CX booking, I made a purchase of TPE-HKG-TPE, with no intention of flying back to TPE, but instead will just take the connecting flight to JFK, will that work? Will CX know ahead of time that I have conflicting itinerary and cancel me or give me trouble on my HKG-JFK?
