I'm at a crossroads because I understand that Chase won't allow you to get approved for two cards at once. I'm wondering if I'm crazy to do the Continental card now and just hope that the British Airways card comes back someday.

What is your advice?
I assume you're referencing frugaltravelguy's blog, but if I 'm understanding him correctly, it's not that you can't get in on multiple promos (i.e. get CO & UAL & BA), it's that you can't double dip and get a promo you've already received (i.e. got BA last 100k go around, tried again and failed).

That being said, I'd say go for the CO, because that will for sure be gone soon forever. There's a chance that the BA 100k will be back, and even if not, 50k will prob float around.
