What would happen if, right as the boarding door was about to be closed, a fare were to start insisting to the flight crew that they really needed to see the GA. The crew keeps the door open, the GA comes down to the flight, and the fare says "I've rethought it - can I have one of those AMEX applications?"

I presume that GA would get stuck with a delayed flight, but would anything happen to the fare?
