It would also be interesting to know how full the flight was--if it was a light load and all medallions had been upgraded, then DL would've sold FC seats at the gate--maybe they're offering them at check-in now. However, if not all medallions had been upgraded and they were trying to sell upgrades, than this could be a real game-changer.
Can you imagine the reaction of the PAX who bought up to P (say, by adding $79 to a high M fare) only to see someone on a much lower K fare snag an UG at the gate for the traditional $50 to $75 fee?



Or the first time someone on a P fare in an IROPs situation gets told that they only had an
upgrade to FC and due to the IROP they are going to be sitting in coach?
