Turns out DiscoPapa was right. I got to the gate kind of late because I was at the Skyclub fitting in that last gin and tonic, and when I looked up at the upgrade monitor my name was no longer on the list. I went to the counter and I had indeed gotten the upgrade. Not only did I, but so did the PM sitting next to me. He was on the same fare. So, I am not sure how I went from #3 for 0 to getting it, but I am glad it happened.

By the way, to those who say that loyalty is not enough to "deserve" upgrades, and they should only go to paid F... I believe it is ultimately in Delta's best intrest to keep us happy. Just this week I bought two flights from Delta (one upwards of $700 when I could have flown another airline for $330 and the other for $600 when there were other options in the $300's) In my opinion, that is paying for the upgrade that I will likely get. No, I do not cause a ruckus if I don't get the upgrade, Bummed?.. yes- But the reason I brought it to this forum was because it was to Vegas and I believe that the monetization issue is in play. Still it is nice to know that this airline, at least for now, is doing a fine job of keeping this DM happy when we all know what a nightmare flying really can be sometimes and how tough being on the road so much is without some perks here and there. On behalf of everyone flying frequently in and out of LAS, I would love for them to keep it that way!
