Having worked Night Audit at the Irvine Marriott, I can assure you that batch information is sent through to Marriott from the PMS itself, and that there is no one, at least at the property level, who sits down each day deciding whether or not to credit points/nights.
Bulldog is correct - this process has been automated since the very early 90's (probably before that)
