Well when I am sitting sipping Krug on my balcony here I will be smiling at those who chose to cancel. That is end of story when you cancel. You cannot re-activate when Starwood finally cave in on this when they see sense.

Right now the SEVEN threads at very top of this Forum relate to Bora Bora. None were started by me, and IMO it is silly overkill. In this 2003 annus horribilis for Starwood that is their worst nightmare, and things will get worse from this day on. Trust me.

Karen let me ask you - what on earth do you think Starwood are going to charge you if you do not show?

IF they charge you 10,000 XPF ($US85) a night they are agreeing that rate WAS correct. Right? HUH????????? Did you book at any rate OTHER than 10,000 XPF a night??????

The pidgin English mangled "cc" email we all got from Bora Bora with an insulting counter offer gave no date or deadline at which we needed to respond. NOR did it mention that rate would be charged for any no show. Lets be serious - they cannot select an arbitrary rate and charge you that if you never booked at that rate.

Remember United Airlines started on this same dopey course last year when they sold all those 100s of internet error fares to Europe at $25. "WE ARE NEVER - EVER, GOING TO LET FOLKS FLY AT THAT PRICE" was the opening week's response from the WHQ heavies. The bad PR backlash from that had the story change around in days to: "WOW - 100s OF OUR CLIENTS GOT LUCKY AND BOOKED FARES TO EUROPE FOR $25. WE ARE SO PLEASED FOR THEM. WE HOPE THEY, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR FRIENDS HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY."

I'll be there in August and I'll be paying $100 a night, tax included. This is early days yet as Starwood USA have just woken up to this boo boo. "Patience is a virtue".

Starwood Lurker I am sure is passing on the angry mood of the troops to his WHQ.
