While you are completely right about this being
RIDICULOUS as regards the "security" issue, IF the combined airline uses the UA FA manual for announcements regarding lavatory use - you WILL get used to hearing that it's for (among other things) "security".
Personally, I try to ignore it, but it happens at UA now.
