So, other than the horrible stale cigarette smell (which would bother me too), what exactly was wrong with your room??? From your description, the decor sounds so awful that it might be kinda fun!

Also, for anyone not yet familiar with it, Padova/Padua is a wonderful town. Please don't just think of it as an overnight stopover for the Venice airport, but allow several hours (including daytime hours) for a visit to the city.
