When I have run recruitment panels at work and I see an application with poor punctuation or grammar, I think "OMG, will I have to edit every single piece of external correspondence if he / she wins the job"? Their appliction is duely culled because of "failure to effectively communicate".
Agreed, which is why I have been construed as being racist. I work in IT, where a lot of Indian University graduates are shall we say keen to do 'whatever it takes' to get into the industry.
Alas their degree from the University of Bangalore or other institution does not teach them the art of english communications.
It's a world where one word can cost you your job, or your company its very existence. Damn litigious societies!
