Did you also think this was a thread about how the SLC SkyClub ran out of merlot or something else truly 'horrifying'?

Same thing happened to me on a perfectly clear day at JFK when my flight went MX over the Atlantic and turned back. One of these issues here is that the Plat desk has no better way of helping you with your bags than you do. They are as useless as your PM baggage tags when it comes to lost luggage. I decided to cancel my business trip and take a taxi home. The thought of going to London with no suit or clean clothes was not appealing. Bags showed up 4 days later. I told DL by email they need a medallion baggage line but the fact is that they are at the mercy of each station. In response we didn't get a medallion luggage line but I got 20k bonus miles for the whole ordeal. Get compensation when they call you to follow-up on your CS email, ask for more! Maybe you will have enough for a mid-winter coach class getaway to DTW or whatever flight you can actually get for 25k these days.
