There's no way to get around the fees. Occasionally, the airlines will have promos where they offer either discounted fees or bonus miles for buying or transferring.
Note that it is often cheaper to buy miles from AA then to transfer them. AA has the following promo for buying right now:
Thanks for your response. Why are the guys on Points.com trying to trade miles from different airline and how are they doing that without going through the airline?
I am just trying to understand how they are doing it because I have learned a lot of information on this forum.
